Russia and Abkhazia have signed a cooperation agreement on information technology and communications, the Russian Ministry for Communications reports.
The document was signed by Acting Minister for Communications Igor Shegolev and Abkhaz representative Christian Bzhania at the Svyaz-Expocomm-2012 exhibition.
The sides will exchange experience in information security and use of radio frequencies. Some points of the document state cooperation in online studies, mail communication and training specialists. Russia and Abkhazia will broadcast TV and radio programs, press and books together.
Rostelecom (Russia) is cooperating with the Technical Service of Communication Lines and TV and Radio Broadcasting Means and other Abkhaz operators. Megafon owns the majority stake of AQUAFON-GSM, MTS signed a deal on international roaming with A-Mobile. Abkhazia sends international mail through Russia.
The agreement will last 4 years, then it will be prolonged.
