Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will attend the G8 summit at Camp David on May 18. Presidential Assistant Arkady Dvorkovich said that the summit will be informal, RIA Novosti reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the summit with Medvedev yesterday. Russia plans to discuss simplification of the visa regime with the US in the near future. Dvorkovich admitted that the reboot of relations between Russia and the US had succeeded. However, replacement of the Jackson-Vanik amendment with another one is unacceptable, because Russia is entering the WTO.
Another issue for the summit is the European missile complex, although it is not part of the formal talks. Syria and North Korea will also be included in the final declaration of the summit. Russia would like to avoid points dictated during preparations of resolutions at the UN Security Council, Dvorkovich said.
