Makhtumkuli (nicknamed Fragi) was a notorious Turkmen poet of classic literature and a thinker. He lived from roughly the 1730s to the 1780s. Over 10,000 lines of his verses have been discovered so far, many of them have been translated into Russian. Turkmenistan is marking the Day of National Revival and Unity. Fragi will be commemorated on May 19. Saparmurat Niyazov combined the two holidays into one.
