The Republic party has withdrawn from the opposition Armenian National
Congress (ANC). The party left the congress on May 18 at a meeting of
the party's political council, which was attended by members of the
political council and heads of territorial bodies.
The decision to withdraw from the ANC was adopted unanimously, news.am reports.
As previously reported, the leader of the Republic party, Aram Sarkisian,
announced that he had refused his parliamentary seat. He explained his
decision was down to long-term controversies with the leadership of the ANC. Already
during the electoral campaign he claimed that he was not going to accept a
seat.
