The Central Electoral Commission of Russia sent a regional draft model law on elections of heads of Russian regions for examination, RIA Novosti reports referring to the CEC.
The regional draft law is based on the federal law, under which the federal subjects are able to vary the number of signatures required for candidates in order to run in elections. The amount of people required to support candidates will be between 5 and 10 percent.
At the same time the document states that a candidate must be supported in no less than three-quarters of municipalities and urban districts on the territory of a subject of the Russian Federation.
