NATO backs the territorial unity, independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Moldova and urged regional states to end conflict in South Caucasus and Moldova. Attendants of the summit signed a NATO declaration in Chicago, Trend reports.
Peaceful settlement of conflicts is based on principles and norms of the international law, the UN Charter and the final Helsinki document.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan was invited to the summit, but refused to attend it due to formulations of the declaration. The declaration does not meet the points of the OSCE Minsk Group. This may harm the process of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and aggravate the situation, especially in the light of Azerbaijan’s increasing military expenses, the foreign minister says.
