Georgian general murdered in Moscow

Roman Dumbadze, a former general in the Georgian Army, was shot dead in Moscow on Monday, a police source said, RIA-Novosti reports.

Dumbadze, who received Russian citizenship in 2010, headed an infantry brigade stationed in the autonomous Georgian region of Adjara in 2004. He achieved notoriety in Georgia after refusing to fulfil President Mikheil Saakashvili’s orders during the Adjaran crisis. Dumbadze then took the side of the Adjaran leader, Aslan Abashidze.

The police also said that there were reportedly two killers on a motorcycle who shot the general, RIA-Novosti reports.
