NATO to renew cooperation with CFE

NATO wants to give Russia information according to the Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) if Moscow agrees to fulfill obligations set in the document, ITAR-TASS reports.

The idea was announced in a declaration of the NATO summit in Chicago. NATO partners of the CFE said that they may reconsider fulfillment of points for Russia scrapped in November 2011.

Russia passed a moratorium on CFE in 2007, stating that some NATO members did not join it, while some others did not ratify it. The US and NATO stopped the CFE information exchange with Russia in November 2011.
