The departure of the ISAF from Afghanistan may worsen the situation, Director General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha said at a video conference of Astana, Yerevan, Kiev and Kishinev, Habar reports.
Afghan militants may try to break into Middle Asian states, especially Tajikistan. NATO forces will leave Afghanistan in 2014.
The sides discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Bordyuzha emphasized that Armenia will be protected by the CSTO if any state will plan hostile actions against it.
Kazakhstan is chairing the CSTO in 2012. The organization is marking the 20th anniversary of signing the treaty and the 10th anniversary of the organization. Bordyuzha noted that Kazakh priorities are to develop a rapid reaction system, military cooperation, formation of a single system for control of aerospace of Middle Asia.
