195,000 hectares of winter crops have died. The region has been experiencing a drought for the last 1.5 years. Rainfall has halved, while the temperature exceeds the norm of May by 5-7 degrees.
About 2.5 million tons of grain were lost. Only 8 million tons of grain (including corn and rice) will be harvested.
A solution to the problem is irrigation. Only 28,000 hectares out of 152,000 are irrigated.
