Leader of the Syrian National Council (SNC) Burhan Ghalioun has resigned. He will be replaced on June 9-10, ITAR-TASS reports.
Burhan Ghalioun is a Syrian-French sociologist and public figure. He became the leader of the Syrian National Council in August and reelected on May 15. The council consists of opposition members fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The council was recognized by the Friends of Syria Group (members of the Arab League, UK, US and France) recognized the SNC as the only legal power in Syria.
