Zalimgeri Khagasov was reappointed the head of Nalchik, capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, on Thursday. He has been in office since 2009, RIA Novosti reports.
Elections for the city council of Nalchik were held on March 4, 2012. Acting Mayor Zalimgeri Khagasov, Director of the Trolleybus Directorate Takhir Balayev and head of the Kenzhe administration Oleg Pshenokov were the three candidates.
Kabardino-Balkarian Leader Anrsen Kanokov recommended Khagasov for the position. He reminded that donations to the local budget dropped by 18.5%, the rate of growth of the budget increased by 133.5% since 2009, the quantity of goods dispatched increased by 188%, retail sales increased 2.4-fold.
Khagasov used to work at the Interior Ministry, supervising the Tsentralny and Nalchik complexes. He became the Director General of the Nalchik Electrical Networks in December 2005. He became the deputy head of administration in May 2008., supervising the financial department of Nalchik. He became the acting head of Nalchik in November 2008 and incumbent in June 2009.
