Iran's newly elected parliament began its first session today, Trend reports.
The opening session of the Islamic Republic's ninth Majlis (parliament) was attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, high-ranking military leaders, the heads of various supervisory bodies and foreign ambassadors, Mehr news agency reports.
The 290 members of the 9th Islamic Consultative Assembly were elected in early March and in a runoff round on May 4.
