Ali Larijani has been elected as the Iranian Speaker of Parliament, Trend reports.
The official was elected on the second day of the parliamentary session. 275 MPs attended the session, 175 of them voted for Larijani, 100 more voted for Golam Ali Haddad Adil.
Iran has elections of parliamentary speakers once a year. A speaker needs atwo thirds of votes. Larijani has been the Speaker for four years at the parliament of the eighth calling.
The first parliamentary session opened on Sunday. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, high-ranking military officials and heads of various states structures and foreign ambassadors attended the first session of the parliament of the 9th calling.
290 MPs were elected in Iran in two rounds of votes, in early March and early May.
