Medvedev to visit Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will visit Kazakhstan on May 18-19, his press secretary Natalya Timakova said, Interfax reports.

She noted that Medvedev will meet Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Prime Minister Karim Masimov. Medvedev was invited to Kazakhstan by Masimov in a telephone conversation on May 8, after becoming the Prime Minister.

Kazakhstan is the first state Medvedev will visit after becoming the Prime Minister. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Kazakhstan in early June.

Medvedev is expected to make a visit from Astana to Ashkhabad. He had a telephone conversation with Turkmen President Gurganguly Berdimuhamedov on May 16 and agreed for bilateral negotiations after the CIS Council of government heads.
