Israel offers compensation for attacking Mavi Marmara

Israel has offered compensation of $6 million for an attack on the Turkish liner Mavi Marmara, when it was trying to break through the Gaza blockade in May 2010, ANS Press reports.

Ramazin Ataturk is a lawyer protecting 465 people and their relatives involved in the raid. The offer of compensation was made in Ankara a month ago.

The lawyer said that neither he, nor relatives of the victims consider the compensation suitable. They want Israel to contact the people directly, without a diplomatic mediator.
