The PACE rapporteur on human rights in the North Caucasus, Dick Martin, is to visit Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan on March 21-28, ITAR-TASS said, citing a Council of Europe source.
“We already have an agreement with the Russian authorities that the delegation will visit Chechen Republic, Ingushetia and Dagestan. At the present time we are working out the concrete details of the visit," the source said.
He also said the Council of Europe was observing the development of human rights in the region "with interest."
“The delegation intends to collect all the necessary materials for a report on the North Caucasus. The document should be ready by PACE's June session," the source added.
It is expected that Martin's North Caucasus report will become a part of the whole report on the fulfillment by Russia of its Council of Europe obligations.
