US hopes for diplomacy in Syria

US President Barack Obama is confident that the situation in Syria can
still be settled through diplomatic channels, Deputy Press Secretary
of the White House Josh Earnest said, RIA-Novosti reports.

"The president hopes that we will be able to find a diplomatic
solution. Violence should be stopped (in Syria), transition of power
by political means should begin," - Ernest said.

Today US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed concern
about reports of shipments of Russian weapons to Syria.

As previously reported by VK, representatives of an American human
rights organization said on Thursday that a Russian ship, allegedly
loaded with weapons, arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus, where Russia
has a naval base.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told a press
conference in Berlin on Friday that Russia is not supplying weapons to Syria in
order to use them against civilians.
