No negotiations are possible with Georgia until it gives guarantees of security to South Ossetia, South Ossetian Foreign Minister David Sanakoyev said. He added that the only format of interaction with Georgia is the Geneva talks under Russian mediation, the EU, UN and OSCE, Izvestia reports.
The minister noted that recognition of independence is a priority issue. The Foreign Ministry wants more states to recognize South Ossetia as an independent country. Sanakoyev has not clarified the states South Ossetia has good ties with.
Sanakoyev mentioned that the plan of the new Serbian president to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states has not been discussed.
