Head of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has invited a journalist of Novaya Gazeta who criticized the committee to visit North Caucasus, RIA Novosti reports.
The newspaper published materials on the punishment for Sergey Tsepovyaz, a suspect sheltering the gang that committed a massacre at the Kushchovskaya Village of the Krasnodar Territory.
The suspect admitted guilt for covering up the grave crime and was fined with 150,000 rubles. The maximum punishment is 2 years of prison. The judge could only sentence the suspect to two thirds of the maximum punishment.
Sokolov said that Bastrykin did not keep his word on punishing people involved in the massacre in the most harsh way. Bastrykin offered the journalist to attend mourning over Alim Vorokov, an investigator, in Nalchik. The journalist was offered to attend an operative session where the first results of the investigation of the investigator’s death will be presented.
