Eurasian Union parliament should be elected by popular vote - Russia's Matviyenko

The Russian Federation Council speaker, Valentina Matviyenko, believes that members of the Eurasian Union's parliament should be elected by popular vote, RIA Novosti reports.

"Members of the union's parliament should be elected by people. Only in this case the body will be effective. That's my opinion," Matviyenko said.

"I'm a keen supporter of the idea of a parliament elected by a popular vote," she added.
