Turkey will not interfere in the affairs of Syria

Trying to play a role in the settlement of the Syrian crisis, Turkey has no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of the country, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, speaking at the opening of the World Economic Forum in Istanbul, Trend reports.

"Turkey is aware that any misstep in the Syrian crisis could lead to a regional disaster. Turkey aims to resolve the crisis, but not to interfere in the affairs of the country," Erdogan said.

As a result of on-going violence in Syria, thousands of people have been killed, resulting in tens of thousands of people fleeing to Turkey and Jordan. If the Syrian problem is not resolved, the fate of these people will be under threat, Erdogan said.
