Adjara has decided to improve control over Turkish guide booklets for excursions, Vzglyad reports.
Maps were made in the Turkish language and were checked in 15 Turkic languages. The Adjara Tourism Department urged Turkish officials to check the readiness of guides.
There have been cases of wrong interpretation of history of Adjara by Turkish guides. Adjara was part of the Ottoman Empire until 1878. Some schoolbooks calls Batumi, the capital of Adjara, a territory of Turkey.
Turkish Ambassador Levent Burkhana was asked to comment on the case.
Adjara became part of Georgia according to the Kars Treaty of 1921.
