Georgia has potential for increasing trade relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey - minister

Turkey and Azerbaijan are Georgia's largest trading partners. Total trade turnover between the three countries amounts to several hundred million dollars, but there is a reserve, Georgian minister of economy Vera Kobalia said. She made the statement on Monday in an interview with Georgian journalists following a meeting of businessmen from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia, which took place in Kars (Turkey) last Saturday, Trend reports.

Up to 300 business people gathered in Kars, where the Georgian-Turkish-Azerbaijani business forum took place. The economic ministers of the three countries attended. Kobalia said that all three countries are ready to increase trade turnover.

"The theme of the meeting was intensification of trade relations between our countries and improving the investment climate," she said.

The Georgian minister said that her country is interested in attracting Azerbaijani and Turkish investments.

"These countries have been actively investing in our economy, but there is a reserve, especially in the energy sector, agriculture and tourism," she said. "I think that the meetings of business people will develop trade relations and attract investments."
