Day of Russia

Russia is marking one of its main holidays, the Day of Russia. The State Sovereignty Declaration was passed in the USSR on June 12, 1990, and the first direct presidential polls were held on June 12, 1991. Boris Yeltsin became the president. The new Constitution called the country the Russian Federation. The presidential decree of June 2, 1994, set the Day of Sovereignty Declaration on June 12, renamed into the Day of Russia on February 1, 2002.
Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov congratulated the population. He called Russian President Vladimir Putin a strong politician. He reminded people about the achievements of the Russian Hero Ahmat-Haji Kadyrov.
The leaders of Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia and Adygeya - Magomedsalam Magomedov, Rashid Temrezov and Aslan Tkhakushinov - congratulated the country and expressed best wishes.
