Washington is against Russia’s proposal to involve Iran in an international conference on Syria, spokeswoman of the US State Department Victoria Nuland said, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in Istanbul that the US position will remain unchanged.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov proposed an international conference to fulfill the peace plan of Kofi Annan, special envoy of the UN. The Russian minister emphasized that Iran’s presence is necessary.
