On Monday, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, Toyly Komekov, was invited to the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan and received by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Trend reports.
It was noted at the meeting that, under the agreement reached between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in 2008, there shouldn't be any exploration or production activity on the territories of the intersection of the bottom of the sectors of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan until issues related to delimitation of the Caspian Sea are agreed.
Turkmenistan, violating the agreement, is attempting to start seismic work on the Kapaz field, located at the intersection of the sectors of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
In this regard a strong protest has been expressed to Turkmenistan, and it is pointed out that the illegal activity of Turkmenistan is unacceptable and the Azerbaijani side reserves the right to conduct appropriate activities related to the protection of its own sovereign rights in the Caspian Sea.
