Moscow hosts international media forum

Moscow is hosting the Media of the Future International Forum, RIA Novosti reports.

Russian Minister for Communications Nikolai Nikiforov read out the message of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The PM believes that global media space is undergoing changes that need the evaluations of experts.

Nikiforov said that the ministry studies the problem of intellectual property in the Internet, limitations of access to websites, DDoS attacks and their prevention.

RIA Novosti Director General Nikolai Biryukov emphasized that modern media faces many challenges, such as the financial recession and the expansion of social networks.

Manuel Castellas, a professor of the Annenberg Journalism School of the South California University is the headliner at the forum. RIA Novosti Editor-in-Chief Svetlana Mironyuk said that leading media experts arrived for the forum.

Ken Doctor, authors of the “newsonomics” term and author of the Nieman Lab blog, Jeff Moriarty, Vice President of Boston Globe, will describe the advantages of digital press.

Andrew Hayward, a founder of CBS News, Yan Rezab, a founder of SocialBakers, Andrey Miroshnichenko, a media analyst, German Klimenko, founder of Liveinternet.ru and Dennis Adamovich, representative of Yahoo!Inc. in Russia will attend the forum.
