ECtHR confirms freedom of parliamentary polls in Russia

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has rejected lawsuits of two Russian political parties and six people demanding recognition of parliamentary polls in Russia as illegal, Interfax reports.

The CPRF and Yabloko, Sergey Ivanenko, Yevgeny Kiselev, Dmitry Muratov, Vladimir Ryzhkov, Vladimir Solovyov and Irina Khakamada insisted that Russian television coverage was very one-sided during the parliamentary polls of 2003 and was a result of political manipulation by United Russia.

The ECtHR did not recognize a violation of the right to efficient protection and free elections.
