Putin calls for cooperation to resolve missile issue

Russian President Vladimir Putin said after a meeting with US President Barack Obama at the G20 summit in Mexico that the anti-missile problem could not be resolved. It is not a matter of who stays in power in the USA. Formation of anti-missile defenses has been ongoing for years and there is nothing to change the US approach, Putin notes, RIA Novosti reports.

The only solution is the readiness of the US to form the anti-missile system with Russia and the EU as partners.

Putin touched upon the economic aspect, hoping that the US would lift the Jackson-Vanik amendments, otherwise the US would not have benefits other states would in Russia as WTO members. The Russian president noted that the US trade turnover with Russia is $32 billion. The turnover of Russia with China is $83.5 billion, Germany $72 billion. Russia will take counter-measures if the Jackson-Vanik amendment should stay.

The Russian leader said that power transition in Syria should only be carried out according to the Constitution. Foreign intervention is unacceptable.

Putin confirmed that Russia is ready to provide $10 billion for the IMF. The International Monetary Fund needs reforms of management. The reform of 2010 needs concluding. The distribution of quotas and reforms needs adjustments, Putin believes.
