Georgia adjusts Electoral Code

International observers will monitor parliamentary polls in Georgia at polling stations, district commissions and the Central Electoral Commission, according to amendments to the Georgian Electoral Code, Trend reports.

The amendments were passed in the second reading by the majority of MPs. The new code states that organizations sending observers must acknowledge and respect territorial unity and sovereignty of Georgia.

Any international monitoring organization has the right to send two observers per polling station.

The Georgian parliament will also reduce the age limit for parliamentary polls from 25 to 21.
