The US State Department has urged Russia to investigate cases of involuntary labour at the construction of facilities for Olympic Games in Sochi and APEC summit in Vladivostok, RIA Novosti reports.
The US says that the construction sites are closed to the public, but certain stories state harsh labour conditions and signs of involuntary labour, such as keeping documents and late wages.
An Olimpstroy spokesman commented, noting that accommodation of workers at Olympic construction areas is under strict control. Over 55,000 people are operating. They are accommodated at construction towns, hotels and private apartments. All complaints are studied immediately. No information on involuntary work have been registered, the official said.
