Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed the constitutional law on ex-presidents and their families, APA reports.
The bill consists of 12 points. The law concerns a president’s wife and children under 18 as well.
A president’s pension equals 50% of the presidential wage. A president that lost power through impeachment will not receive such pension. A late president’s wife will receive 50% of his pension. Under-aged children receive payments as well.
An ex-president will have 3 bodyguards, a driver and vehicle, representational expenses will be covered with 20% of the wage. An ex-president and his wife get a diplomatic passport.
The former president may not be punished for violations made before and during presidency. The same concerns the president’s wife. Punishments may only be sanctioned by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The bill was passed on June 12. It will be used for ex-President Ayaz Mutallibov.
