Iran calls executions of its citizens in Saudi Arabia political

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdullhian said that not a single Iranian citizen has been executed in a Gulf state in the last four years, while Saudi Arabia has executed 18 Iranians, Trend reports.

The deputy minister said that such executions prove their political nature. The first group was executed in April on the first day of nuclear talks between Iran, USA, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany. The second group was executed in late May during the next round of talks in Baghdad.

The citizens were executed for drug trafficking. Iran warned about political repercussions for Riyadh.
