Georgian Dream has filed a lawsuit for the UN Commission on Human Rights against Georgia. The lawsuit was filed by a leader of the party Tina Khidasheli, lawyer Archil Kbilashvili and US lawyer Matthew Orsman over loss of Georgian citizenship by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, Trend reports.
Ivanishvili needs Georgian citizenship for the parliamentary elections of autumn 2012. His Georgian citizenship acquired on July 22, 2004, was frozen when he became a citizen of France in 2010. The Tbilisi City Court cancelled the decision against his wife Yekaterina Khvedelidze.
Ivanishvili cannot gain citizenship through naturalization. he requested the French Embassy on December 29, 2011, to cancel French citizenship. He lost his Russian citizenship earlier.
