Russian amphibious assault ship to skip Syria and enter Novorossiysk

The Russian amphibious assault ship Nikolai Filchenkov of the Black Sea Fleet will arrive from Sevastopol to Novorossiysk, instead of the Mediterranean Sea, with military cargo, RIA Novosti reports.

The ship left Sevastopol on Thursday.

The amphibious assault ships Caesar Kunikov and Nikolai Filchenkov were expected to arrive at the Russian Port of Tartus in Syria.

The ship is expected to be back at Sevastopol on June 25. The Caesar Kunikov has already arrived there.
