Turkey denies shipping weapons to Syrian opposition

A spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Selcuc Unal, has denied the existence of shipments of weapons for the Syrian opposition, RIA Novosti reports.

The New York Times reported that US CIA officers had been operating in the southern part of Turkey for a week, coordinating shipments of weapons for the Free Syrian Army. Weapons are transported to the Syrian opposition across the Turkish border. The Muslim Brotherhood is supporting the operation. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar pay for the shipments of weapons.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said that 32,750 refugees from Syria were registered in Turkey on Friday. They include 12 Syrian generals seeking asylum.
