The Syrian leadership has declared to Russia its readiness to withdraw its
troops from Syrian cities if the opposition will do the same, Russian
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after meeting with his Syrian
counterpart Walid Muallem, RIA Novosti reports.
The minister called on Damascus to carry out the resolution plan of the
conflict, developed by the UN special envoy General Kofi Annan. "They have
already done a lot, but they can and should do much more," Interfax
quotes Lavrov saying.
