Putin: resumption of talks is the only way to settle the Arab-Israeli conflict

As reported previously by VK, Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Israel for talks with senior Israeli officials. One of the main events of the day was the meeting of Putin with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

At the meeting, Putin proposed reviving the negotiation process on a settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The participants in the meeting discussed the issues around the situation in Syria and the Iranian nuclear issue. "Russia, from the very beginning of the so-called Arab spring, has consistently tried to convince our partners that democratic reforms should be conducted in a civilized manner and without outside interference," RIA-Novosti quotes Putin.

Earlier in the day, Vladimir Putin and Israeli President Shimon Peres attended the opening ceremony of a memorial in the city of Netanya to the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany. At the opening of the monument the Russian president talked about the inadmissibility of attempts to rewrite the history of WWII.

Today Vladimir Putin will meet with Israeli President Shimon Peres and attend an official dinner in his honor. Tomorrow, the president of Russia will continue his visit in the Middle East, travelling to the Palestinian territories and Jordan for talks with the head of the PNA, Mahmoud Abbado, and Jordan's King Abdullah II.
