EU passes strategy for human rights and democracy

The EU Council for Foreign Affairs has passed a framework strategy for human rights and democracy and a plan of its realization, Trend reports.

Protection of human rights is one of the main topics of EU foreign relations. Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, expressed hope that an EU special representative for human rights would soon be appointed.
