Iran may quit its irrigation project

Iranian Speaker of Parliament Ali Larijani has filed a letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to stop realization of the project to pump water from the Caspian Sea to Central Iran, Shomal News reports.

Larijani says that the project will need excessive financing. Scrapping administrative tenders violates the law.

Iran plans to pump 500 million cubic meters of water annually. The Supreme Court of Audition and other monitoring structures have come up with questions to the Energy Ministry about the project in the last weeks.
