Kofi Annan, special envoy of the UN and LAS, proposed formation of a government of national unity in Syria consisting of the current authorities and opposition, RIA Novosti reports.
The idea will be discussed in Geneva on June 30.
Annan hinted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad should nopt be part of the government.
The protests in Syria have been ongoing for over a year. The UN says that over 12,000 people have died. The Syrian government says that over 2,500 troops and police officers and 3,200 civilians have died in clashes with well-armed militants.
