Uzbek delegation to participate in Council of CIS Defense Ministers

A delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan will take part
in a meeting of the Council of CIS Defense Ministers, Trend reports
citing its source in the Uzbek government.

The meeting, which will be attended by delegations from the defense
ministries of 11 CIS countries, will be held on July 5 in Kaliningrad.

It will be chaired by the Defense Minister of Russia, Anatoly
Serdyukov.

As reported in late June, Uzbekistan decided to suspend its
participation in the activities of the Collective Security Treaty
Organization.

Uzbekistan had already left the CSTO - in 1999, Tashkent refused to
renew the contract. However, in August 2006, Uzbekistan restored
its membership in the CSTO.
