Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has met US Congressmen Dan Burton and Gregory Meeks, Trend reports.
The sides discussed trade-economic cooperation and international development.
Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan has been actively cooperating with the US since becoming an independent state 20 years ago. US President George H.W. Bush visited Kazakhstan on the next year after declaration of Kazakh independence to discuss nuclear disarmament. Kazakhstan plans to become a developed state by 2020-2025.
Dan Burton noted that the idea to move the capital to Astana had many disagreements, but was necessary.
Kazakhstan and the US have strategic partnership. Trade turnover between the two states totaled $2.74 billion in 2011, exceeding the figure in 2010 by 26%.
