Russia’s FSB chief arrives in Makhachkala

The head of Russia’s FSB (former KGB), Alexander Bortnikov, arrived in Makhachkala today to attend a session of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee (NCTC), RIA Novosti reports.

The session starts at 2 pm under Bortnikov’s chairmanship. Attendants of the session will discuss terrorism in the North Caucasus and additional measures to combat it.

Advisor Chairman of the NCTC Andrey Przhezdomsky announced a breakthrough in fighting terrorism in late June. But the situation in Dagestan remains tense, clashes with militants happen daily.
