Any attempts by Iran to block traffic through the Strait of Hormuz would be a violation of the international law, spokeswoman of the US State Department Victoria Nuland said, RIA Novosti reports.
The official has not given details on the US reaction to Iran’s threats to block the strait. Iranian lawmakers presented a bill to block the strait for European tankers as a response to the European petroleum embargo against Iran.
