At least a third of US and NATO cargo is being moved from Afghanistan via the northern routes, through Russia and Middle Asian republics, Trend reports.
The US and NATO plan to transport about 100,000 containers and 50,000 vehicles from Afghanistan until 2014. Barak Obama’s administration plans to withdraw 23,000 troops from the state before September 2012.
Negotiations with Middle Asian states and Pakistan are complicated. Uzbekistan is connected with Afghanistan by a railway. It wants payments for reverse transit to increase by 50%. Kyrgyzstan requested free drones from the US in April.
Washington offers to cover remaining payments with military equipment used in Afghanistan.
