Switzerland scraps petroleum embargo against Iran

Switzerland will extend sanctions against Tehran, but will not join the EU embargo against the Islamic Republic, ANS reports.

New Swiss sanctions will come into force on July 6. They ban purchase of equipment and materials for petrochemical industry, TV communication and metals and diamonds.

Many states have reduced oil imports from Iran to avoid US sanctions. The EU oil embargo came into force on July 1.
