Pakistanis to scan all NATO cargo containers going to Afghanistan

All containers with NATO cargoes passing through Pakistan will be
tested for the presence of arms and ammunition, "Interfax-Azerbaijan" reports, referring to Afghan customs officials.

"We used to selectively scan containers, but now we will properly
check each container. We can seize any object that is not mentioned in
the agreements between Pakistan and Afghanistan and between Pakistan
and NATO," a representative of the customs service of the city of
Karachi said.

As previously reported by VK on Thursday, Islamabad has re-opened the
supply route for NATO non-military cargo to Afghanistan. Trucks
carrying supplies for the alliance have crossed into Pakistan for the first time in the past seven
months.

Pakistan shut the route at the end of last year after NATO helicopters
mistakenly fired on a Pakistani outpost, mistaking the military for the
Taliban.
