The State Duma on Friday deprived a deputy of the Communist
Party, Vladimir Bessonov, of his parliamentary immunity and consented to the
inititation of criminal proceedings against him, RIA-Novosti reports. 281 MPs voted for and
158 - against.
According to investigators, on December 2nd 2011 Bessonov organized an
unsanctioned rally of more than 100 people in Rostov-on-Don, and
refused to follow police orders.
According to investigators, Bessonov and his allies undertook
agressive actions against the police. On Tuesday the parliamentary
working group traveled to Rostov-on-Don to investigate the incident.
Bessonov denied the accusation and said that he intends to bring to
justice the members of the Rostov police, who, in his opinion,
exceeded their authority.
